"Notices to Mariners"
are periodical publications, edited as booklet, for the main purpose to
provide mariners and users in general with information to maintain
Brazilian nautical charts and publications up-to-date, according to Rule
9 Chapter V of the International Convention for Safety of Life at Sea
(SOLAS/74).
Regularly, three "Notices to Mariners" are published:
- Maritime Area and Inland Waters in General (publication DH21, with
fortnightly periodicity);
- Paraguai-Paraná Hydroway (publication DH22, with monthly periodicity);
and
- Tietê-Paraná Hydroway (publication DH23, with trimestrial periodicity).
The corrections to nautical charts are consolidated through Temporary
Notices (T), Preliminary Notices (P) and Permanent Notices, presented in
Section III. When necessary, some Permanent Notices are associated with
patches, notes and frames inserted in a specific section of the Notices
to Mariners.
The corrections to nautical publications are presented in Section IV
and, when necessary, through "Corrections Sheets" inserted at the end of
the Notices to Mariners.
