Determined by the Directory of Ports and Coast

:. QUALIFICATIONS AND DEMANDED REQUIREMENTS

a) APNT

. have served more than 36 months of sea service aboard, as Officer On Duty, aboard ships larger than 500 tons DW (Rule II/2 of the Convention STCW-78/95).

. have the certificates of the following Special Courses, or equivalent:
- First Aid (Basic)
- Personal Security and Social Responsibility
- Fire Fighting (Basic)
- Advanced Fire Fighting
- General Radio Operator – EROG
- Personal Survival – ESPE
- Survival and Rescue at Sea - ESPM
- ARPA Operator - EARP

b) APMA

. have served more than 36 months of sea service aboard, as 2nd Engineering Officer or as its assistant (Rule III/3 of the Convention STCW-78/95).

. Have been conferred the following Special Courses (or equivalent) certificates:
- First Aid (Basic)
- Personal Security and Social Responsibility
- Fire Fighting (Basic)
- Advanced Fire Fighting
- General Radio Operator – EROG
- Personal Survival – ESPE
- Survival and Rescue at Sea - ESPM
- ARPA Operator - EARP

:. FACILITIES TO THE STUDENTS

- scholar facilities;
- audio visual resources and laboratories;
- handouts;
- local transportation to external classes;
- lodgings and meals;
- sports practice;
- technical library;
- emergency medical and dental cares

:. INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS


The reservation scholarship request must be made by the proper friendly country’s governmental section responsible for the merchant marine affairs, according to the regulations (PEPME) found in the Brazilian Diplomatic Representations.

The confirmation, by the Brazilian government, about the scholarships granted will be communicated to the solicitor government up to July 31st, by the Brazilian diplomatic representative.

:. PRESENTATION DATE

The selected applicants’ presentation will be directly done at CIAGA, 48 hours before the assigned course beginning time

:. SCHOOL REGIME

The student shall obey the rules and regulations that regulate his academy life and discipline in the instruction centers.

The student can leave the instruction center after the classes, at his will.

The foreign student´s fee may be cancelled by a Commander´s Act on the following circumstances:
- completion or interruption of the course
- reproval
- abandon
- serious disciplinary fault
- definitive inaptitude after health examinations

CERTIFICATES

a) Deck Officer
Upon the completion of APNT the approved Officer shall be conferred the Certificate of Competency according to article VI of the STCW-78/95 Convention, item I, Rule II/2.

b) Engineering Officer
Upon the completion of APNT the approved Officer shall be conferred the Certificate of Competency according to article VI of the STCW-78/95 Convention, item I, Rule III/2.

CIAGA shall confer the certificates upon delegation of the Diretory of Ports and Coast (DPC).

GERNERAL TOPICS

a) The facilities mentioned in item VI will not be extended to the student’s family; and

b) The Instruction Center will not pay for students’ transportation, not even during scholar vacations.
